Report by Neil McAlister

A glorious Wednesday evening, which is strange for the Quinn Cup on the Lurgan Road in Dromore! 31 riders signed on for the Quinn Cup TT, included 3 visiting riders. With Hazel and Anne doing a great job on time keeping duties and setting us off 2 minutes apart. I got the short straw this week (on the winter bike) of first rider, closely followed by Dave Lavery – so it was long before Dave would have me in his sights, he’s hitting great form now with and rode a 26.20.

Everyone was feeling good on the way out to the 5 mile turning point, then a nice head wind home. There was a real battle tonight with the Glover family; Sara, Lee and Charlie all racing against the clock, with Lee just piping Charlie with a 27:46, but Charlie hot on his dad’s heels with a 28:24.

The battle of the TT men was taken again by Kevin Wilson (24:30) and Kevin McAlinden only 30 seconds behind him. It’s hotting up for a great battle with these 2 time trial flyers for the season. There were 2 debuts tonight; Nigel McCullough recording 30:26 and Mark Stewart with a stomping effort of 26:45 – well done lads great performances.

With Chis Burns finding his form again with a 26:31 and Peter McBride making light work of the head wind home with his fastest time to date (27:21). Allan Black steaming home (28:15) after a Neil Teggart bike fit making all the difference.

On a sunny Wednesday evening with almost all riders getting within seconds or, or beating, their target time Stevie and Ivor are going to be kept busy this year working on handicaps. Alan and his team are doing a great job keeping the team safe on the road.
