Banbridge CC’s Touring Club recently visited the old Newry railway tunnel,  marking the 50th Anniversary since the club first visited the tunnel with the late Harry McCartney.  The touring club felt it was right to remember Harry by repeating their visit to this architectural landmark.

The tunnel is 1759 yards long which in Imperial measurement is 3 feet short of a mile. The tunnel is the largest ever built in Ireland.

As ever the touring club are equipped for all eventualities on their excursions; you will note the head torches and SPD wellies!!  Every ride is an education with the touring club.
