                                          WEIR CUP 10 MILERATHFRILAND ROAD

Wednesday 26th April saw the first round of the individual Time Trials on the Banbridge CC calendar. Weather conditions where improving as the evening went on but there was still a cold North wind blowing, leaving the return leg home going to be tough. 21 BCC riders signed on and 1 guest rider showing a great turn out for the first solo event.

Paul Hannigan was of the start line first to see if he could keep his great run in the 2-ups going and he is making good improvements all the time with 31:31 to start the season off. Malcolm had another great ride getting 28:10. Sara Glover was on a roll this year and still hitting great time 30:40. Scott Henderson was off next and has to be one of his best ever time trails getting a personal best 26:42 and getting great points in the club league well done Scott. Ronan Kennedy was out to try the Rathfriland road TT for the first time and he wasn’t hanging about getting a great 26:16 on his first event. David Graham and Mark Kendall were just back from training camp in Spain looking to see how there form was going and getting great times David 26:55, Mark 26:27. Phil Beattie was out on the TT bike and still performing well with a time of 25:39. Ian Cochrane wasn’t hanging about either on the fixed wheel getting 26:09. Peter McBride was out on a TT bike for the first time to see if he could handle it and he did not have any bother getting a great 25:27. Stephen Fitzsimmons was out to see if his 2-up training had done him any good and boy it has. Stephen hit a 25:30 brilliant ride from him that’s a staggering 2 minutes 9 seconds quicker than this time last year looking like Stevie is the man to watch this year. Dan Purdy still going strong 25:52 and Mark Stewart going strong as ever getting 24:52. Kevin McAlinden was also showing great form getting a great 25:37. The fastest man on the night was John Buller there is no stopping the young man on junior gears getting an amazing 23:37 on a road bike as well. John’s form is great and as there is only one race for the Weir Cup, which John Buller will be collecting at the end of the season.

Our visitor from TVR Tim Beattie clocked up a great time of 25.41 on the evening.

Thanks to the time keepers and the marshals on a cold April evening
