Malcolm Jenkins has continued his consistent run of good which has seen him put in some great TT times as well as winning the opening road race round of the Gilchrist Cup in Annaclone.  His latest win at last weeks handicapped 25 mile TT on the Castlewellan Rd will see him crowned the victor of the 2017 Heathwood Cup.  With an actual time of 1:09:46 Malcolm took a whopping  five and a half minutes off his target time of 1:15:16.

Marty Fitzpatrick also had a great ride for 2nd place with an actual time of 1:05:06 to beat his target time of 0:09:33 by almost four and a half minutes and this was enough to give him 2nd place in the cup.  Completing the podium was Brian Wilson, who clocked 1:14:26, exactly four minutes under his target time of 1:18:26.

John Buller also continued to demonstrate his standing as the strongest club racer of the year with the fastest club time on the night – 1:01:01.  Visiting rider Rodney Stewart was the only rider on the night to dip under the hour with 0:58:07.

Stevie Fitzsimmons, who’s obviously carrying serious form both in the club scene and also in the open races, continues to head up the leader board in the Club League ahead of Charlie Glover.  Both riders have scored points in all rounds so far this season – the only two to have done so.  With riders able to drop 3 races at the end of the year things are likely to tighten up again once all points are tallied, however Fitzsimmons consistent high placings will be hard to match if he continues at such a rate!
