Wednesday night saw the riders gather to take part in the Fusco Cup Time Trial.  The course used the Castlewellan Rd turning left at McCoy’s to face the rolling hills before climbing Cattle Hill. This hill always gets the heartbeat racing.

As the first rider Paul Hannigan went off, the skies were looking grey and all were hoping the rain stayed away, Paul has been improving weekly enjoying the challenge returning with a time of 38.29.  Ever-consistent Sara Glover was next away and produced an excellent time.

Next way was Phil Beattie looking sleek on his TT bike, Brian Wilson, Ruth McKee and Brian Curran all away next to complete course. Eager to get going and catch the riders ahead were Charlie Glover and Scott Henderson. It was good to see Marty Fitzpatrick back on his bike after his unfortunate accident at the Teggart few weeks ago coming back with a great time of30.49

Stephen Fitzsimmons and Peter McBride were next with not much between them Stevie returning a time of 29.37 with Peter coming back at 30.22.

The man to beat on the night was Gareth McKee a familiar course for Gareth he has previously won the Fusco cup for the last two years and made it a hat trick on the night by finishing in 28.09 superb ride from Gareth Well done!

Thankfully the rain stayed away until everyone returned, big thanks to all the marshal’s. Brian for taking photos and Hazel and Toni for timekeeping.

This Wednesday sees the second leg of the Gilchrist Cup road race at the Quarry Circuit.
