Now that the domestic club racing season has concluded our club race committee are happy to release the final standings of the Banbridge Cycling Club 2017 Club Competition Points Table.  Overall winner of the 2017 league is Stephen Fitzsimmons; A deserving victor who never missed a race all season.  Stephen has been consistent throughout the season putting everything into the road races and TT’s.

Overall league winner for the ladies is Sara Glover. Sara has had another strong season remaining very focused and attending races in all types of our lovely climate.  She has shown dedication and commitment the season. Winning the Junior competition after a successful debut season in 2016 is Charlie Glover, while another newcomer, Brian Wilson has won the Vet’s competition.  Congratulations to all our winners!

This season has been good for Banbridge CC with their regular TT’s and road races on a Wednesday night, and also hosting the Travers Engineering Annaclone GP which is always popular race, the Banbridge Criterium in May, the Noel Teggart race in June and the John Beggs memorial in August which the year was televised for the first time (you can still watch the programme here).

It was great to see new faces to the racing season the year; Ruth McKee made her debut, participating in both races and TT’s and did very well as seen by the table! We look forward to a few more new faces next year!

A special mention to one of our youngest members, 7 year old Ryan McBride who started on the track in May of this year and proceeded to improve every week, winning the under 8 Ulster Track Championship -Keep up the good work Ryan.

A huge thanks has to go to all our volunteers who turn up every Wednesday night in all sorts of weather to either marshal, perform timekeeping duties or take photos.  Without you all it would not be possible to run our events.

A big well done also to everyone who participated this year, and we hope to see you all competing again next year.

The next event for the club will be a bit more relaxing; it’s the Club dinner and Awards on Friday 3rd November!
