2021 John Beggs Memorial – Updated format and extended registration window.

Following a poor uptake on entries for Round 2 of the Cycling Ireland Junior Men’s National Road Series race due to be hosted as part of this weekend’s John Beggs memorial event, the event organising committee have agreed to merge the Junior Men’s NRS race with the Elite Men’s race.

Junior riders will still be subject to gearing restrictions as per the Cycling Ireland Technical & Administrative Regulations, and as a result of the merge will compete over the longer distance of 132km/82m.  Full Points will be available to the junior riders for the Cycling Ireland Junior Men’s NRS.

As a results of the above change, which introduces some additional flexibility on the 30km circuit, we have amended the Men’s Senior A3 race to 3 laps, giving a total race distance of 98km/61m.

We have also agreed to extend the pre-registration for the event for all races by 24hrs, giving riders an opportunity to sign up to the amended format. Your can register for the event here.

Despite a relatively poor uptake in the Elite & Juniors Women’s race, we will proceed as planned with full points available  for both the Women’s NRS and Junior Women’s NRS.

With an exciting line-up of riders already signed up and positive weather forecast we look forward to an excellent day’s racing.  We will once again be providing LIVE updates on all of the action from the racing via our Twitter feed and by following #TheBeggs21 and #NRS2021 on Twitter
