With no less than five shortlisted nominations for the club the 2022 Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Senior Sports Awards, Banbridge CC members attending the awards ceremony were already in celebratory form. ‘ABC’ is a borough bursting with sporting talent and clubs and the awards are highly competitive and held in high regard in the area.

Banbridge CC shortlisted nominees covered five awards;

  • Club of the Year – Banbridge CC

  • Volunteer Award – Mark Kendall

  • Service to Sport Award – Stephen Curran

  • Sports Person with a Disability – Chris Burns

  • Sportsman of the Year – Mark Downey

After the pre-awards dinner and host Denise Watson’s interviews with 3 of the 4 boroughs 2021 Olympians, including our own Mark Downey and Russell White, the award presentations got off to a great start.    Club Secretary Mark Kendall was awarded the Volunteer award for his services throughout 2021.

Chris Burns was named as the winner of the Sports Person with a Disability award, however was unable to attend on the night due to being away for preparation for the upcoming Paracyling World Cup.  Club Chairman, Aaron Wallace, was called to the stage to collect the award on his behalf.

Club stalwart Stephen Curran was the next Banbridge man to be called to the stage, collecting the Services to Sport Award for his efforts over the past 25+ years.

The positive vibes are now high within the club as it enters the road season with the Banbridge CC hosted Travers Engineering Annaclone GP this weekend.
