Prominent members of Banbridge Cycling Club have visited the offices of Telefónica Tech in Belfast to mark the company’s sponsorship of the leading cycling club’s jersey for the year ahead.

Telefónica Tech UK&I last year became the first jersey sponsor of Banbridge Cycling Club in the club’s 80-year history. The prestigious arrangement links the club up with a truly global technology brand that is closely associated with cycling at the highest level through its sponsorship of the UCI World Tour team, Movistar Team.

Club members Ruth McKee, Riley Smith and Chris Burns, who is set to compete in the 2024 Paralympic Games, visited the company’s base at Catalyst in Titanic Quarter, where they met with staff and helped launch the sponsorship for the year ahead.

As part of the sponsorship, Banbridge Cycling Club will use the Telefónica Tech brand throughout this year, and this will be featured on the BCC team car, and the race-team kits for the men and women’s road and mountain bike teams, and the junior race teams.

The sponsorship reflects the ambition of Banbridge Cycling Club to build on its significant success over the years, as well as the ambition of Telefónica Tech to grow its business in Northern Ireland.

BCC recently took the Telefónica Tech logo successfully over the line in several high-profile events including multiple Irish National Championships in various age categories and disciplines, the Gorey 3 Day International Bike Race and the UCI Gravel World Series.

Telefónica Tech is a leading digital transformation company that is part of the Madrid-headquartered Telefónica Group and has a significant presence in Belfast, with more than 330 people based out of its office in Titanic Quarter.

Aaron Wallace Chairman of Banbridge Cycling Club says: “We’re incredibly pleased to have Telefónica Tech as a sponsor for the year ahead. The company is such a strong supporter of cycling and such a prestigious brand here in Northern Ireland and globally. The sponsorship not only showcases our ambition as a club, it is also financially important, enabling the race team to have the best kit available, as well as enabling more money to be available to support the wider club. We are delighted to form this partnership with Telefónica Tech and are really excited to showcase the new jerseys.”

Dominic Arcari, VP of Sales and Marketing at Telefónica Tech UK&I, says: “This is a partnership that works on so many levels for Telefónica Tech UK&I, aligning with our prioritisation of physical and mental health and wellbeing as a company, where we support and encourage our team to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle and to be active. We are delighted to continue our arrangement with Banbridge Cycling Club this year and are incredibly excited to the see the race teams go from strength-to-strength wearing the jerseys. We were also really pleased to welcome club members to our offices.”
