Another season of success for Banbridge Cycling Club supported by Telefónica Tech

Banbridge CC, sponsored by Telefónica Tech, has enjoyed another successful season. There have been podium places galore for multiple members of all ages, categories and disciplines. Whether it be Irish national Gold medals at shorter and more aggressive track sprinting, a clean sweep at the Ulster 10mile Time Trial Championships, victory in the Ulster Road Race Championships, to 2nd place in both the Mondello Ireland 24 Hours Endurance race and the Donegal Atlantic Way Ultra 555 we’ve enjoyed success across all distances and terrains.

It hasn’t just been about the results however, participation is on the rise across multiple disciplines too.  The biggest Time Trial league in Ireland, the Ernie Magwood Super 6, has been awash with the Telefónica Tech branded yellow jerseys.  Weekly inter-club racing is seeing record entry numbers, and overall club membership has risen to it’s highest level in more than 15 years.

In this two-part video series, we offer a behind-the-scenes look into the stories behind some of our riders’ success.  You can view part one of the series here.

Paul-Antoine Hagan’s Progression; from Junior to International Elite

Our next video illustrates how setting intermediate goals can be vital on the path to long term objectives and ambitions.  Banbridge CC has a long and rich history of progressing and developing youth and junior level riders into international Elite athletes, with experience of overcoming various bumps on the road to success.

So, what’s Paul-Antoine’s take on it? “Set new goals.  Keep moving forward.”

The importance of teamwork to realise individual potential and overcome barriers

Banbridge CC have the benefit of an experienced and knowledgeable support team for our members.  Providing that support structure for our athletes can often be key. Not just on race day, but on the long and hard training days, the recovery spins, or ‘off the bike’ sessions when less physical aspects of preparation, planning and reflection can make the difference when overcoming challenges and reaching goals.

“Setbacks are part of sport.  A simple chat can lift your spirits.”
