Mick Martin has continued his great run of form in both the open racing and club racing scene this season by claiming his most recent win this week in the Mourne Observer Cup. In doing so he also leads the current Banbridge CC Club League table after 5 rounds. The Mourne Observer Cup will be Mick’s 3rd victory of the 2024 season having won the A4 open race at the Killinchy CP in April and the Wills Cup 10m TT club event in early May.
The Mourne Observer Cup road race was promoted as part of the 2nd round of the Banbridge Interclub Race League on the Kinallen circuit. In the sprint for the line Mick was first Banbridge rider home and 2nd across the line behind Dromore CC’s Mark Baird. Next Banbridge rider was Marty Fitzpatrick with Philip Loughlin rounding out the top 3.
Mick now holds a slender 3 point advantage in the club league table with a tally of 112 points. Cameron McIntyre is hot on his heels with 109 points and Philip Castles holds 3rd place with 94 points. The ever consistent Ruth McKee is in 4th place with 92 points and is the leading Woman. A full breakdown of the 2024 Club League Table after 5 rounds can be found below;
