Banbridge CC riders showed their time trialling depth with a collection of strong results and titles at the 2024 Ulster 10 mile TT Championships. Promoted by Ballymena RC on the popular Frosses Rd course on the evening of Wednesday 7th August.
In the Masters 40 category Erwin McKee proved the fastest with a time of 20:24 to claim the Gold medal and another Ulster Championship title. Fresh from winning the M50 category at the UCI Gan Fondo Ireland which has qualified him for the World Championships, Philip Loughlin was once again top of the M50 table with a time of 20:57. In the same category David Ross picked up the bronze medal with a time of 21:49.
Fastest rider on the night was former Banbridge CC rider Marcus Christie who continues a string of top results this season, clocking a time of 18:29.
Other Banbridge CC rider performing at the Championships included Philip Castles who was just outside the M40 medals with a time of 21:02, Richard McBride with 21:42, Marty Fitzpatrick with 23:52, Martin Duffy with 24:08. Both Matthew Adair and Richard Nicholl completed to 10 miles on road bikes, recording times of 25:06 and 27:20 respectively.
Worthy of special mention is Frosses Rd debutant William McBride who recorded an impressive 22:03 without the aid of one of Banbridge CC’s famous slippery Santini skinsuits, or indeed even any disk wheel. We can expect to see some blistering times in future visits to Frosses from young McBride!
