Banbridge CC enjoyed an evening of celebration at the 2024 Cycling Ulster Awards Dinner with no fewer than 9 members winning medals or being awarded for their efforts.  Representing the club at the awards dinner were Toni and Paul Hannigan, David Ross and Philip Loughlin.  Both Philip and David were delighted to be presented with their 2024 Championship Medals by Cycling Ulster sponsor and Northern Ireland legendary motorcycle road racer Phillip McCallen of Phillip McCallen Motorcycles.  Philip (Loughlin) was presented with 2 Gold medals and a Silver for M50 Men TT’s at 10 mile, 25 mile and Best All Round (BAR).  David was presented with 2 Bronze medals for M50 Men TT’s at 10 mile and BAR.

Also presented on the night was Toni Hannigan who was presented with the prestigious honour of Volunteer of the Year award by 2024 Chairman Tommy McCague.  Toni has been one of the Banbridge CC’s most active volunteers for many years, holding various positions within the club in her time including Club Race Secretary, Safeguarding Officer, Press Officer, Assistant Chair, Assistant Secretary, is a member of the Club Committee, the Open Race Committee and has been the main organiser of the Annual Dinner Dance and Kid’s Christmas Party in recent years.  All at Banbridge CC would like to both thank Toni for her continued contribution to the club and of course congratulate her on receiving such a recognition from Cycling Ulster.

It was a special night for Cycling Ulster following the resignation of Tommy McCague from the role of Chairman of Cycling Ulster at the end of 2024.  Tommy was appointed as Chairman of the Cycling Ulster Executive in 2019 and since then has led Cycling Ulster in making  progressive steps forward in the sport and as an advocate of cycling as a leisurely activity for all.  Tommy is a frequent presence at Banbridge CC events with his friendly demeanour and positive attitude.  The club thanks Tommy for his dedication to the role of Chairman and congratulates him on a hugely successful tenure in the position.
