Larkin takes first win of ’25 club racing season.

Mick Larkin has claimed the first club competition of the year at this week’s Weir Cup handicapped time trial event.  The event was held on the 10 mile out and back course on the Rathfriland road, with 27 riders taking part in the first counting round of the 2025 Banbridge Cycling Club Race League.

Mick recorded a time of 30:47, carving a whopping 5 minutes 39seconds off his handicapped target time.  In second place was Karl McElroy who completed the distance in 30:12, some 2 minutes 29 seconds faster than his target. In third place was Mark Downey with a time of 23:36, beating his target time by 1 minute 54 sec.

Fastest rider on the night was Adam Matthews who was setting his first benchmark time for the handicappers.  He stopped the clock at 22 minutes 41 sec, a fantastic time on a standard road bike set up.  2nd fastest was William McBride who was only a single second behind young Adam.  3rd fastest was club newcomer Nathan Mullan with a time of 22:55.

Next weeks event is the Heathwood and Fusco Cup, anther TT event held over a 15.4 mile circuit.  Entry is now open, here
