Voting for the 2025 Banbridge CC Club Person of the year is now open, club members can vote here.
The below list of nominees were shortlisted at the recent October club meeting. We once again have a very worthy list of nominations, all of which should be congratulated and thanked for their efforts and service to Banbridge CC over the last 12 months.
A short briefing on each nominee is listed below to assist with voting. The winner will be announced at the Social Evening and Annual Awards Night on Saturday 8th November in Banbridge Hockey Club where they will be presented with the Towell Trophy. Voting is open to all Banbridge CC Members.
Lydia Beattie

As Banbridge CC’s Chief Timekeeper, Lydia has been the quiet force behind countless club, interclub, and open race events for many years – ensuring every rider’s effort is measured with precision and professionalism. Week after week, Lydia shows up early, stays long after riders have departed and works with her fellow race officials ensuring results are accurate and correct. She’s not just accurate, she’s dependable and respected by both members and visitors who appreciate the warmth and encouragement Lydia brings to Banbridge CC events.
Paul Hannigan

Paul is a regular sight at all of Banbridge CC’s events and events across Ireland where Banbridge CC are participating to capture action and off the bike photographs. Paul’s photos are regularly used for media and publications including local newspapers, websites, and social media, all of which help with the promotion of Banbridge CC and our events.
Paul is also a member of the Club Committee and Open Race Committee and always willing to step in and assist as required.
Ruth McKee

This year Ruth once again took the lead with the organisation and promotion of the MTB XC National Series race in Dunmore, the only MTB XC National Series event to be promoted in Ulster in both 2024 and ‘25. The event once again received universal praise from the riders and other attendees.
Ruth was also one of the lead coaches and helpers at the Summer Cycling Skills Camp and is a regular volunteer at various club events.
Martin Duffy

Martin took on the mantle of Team Manager for Banbridge CC’s race team in the 2025 Rás Tailteann, a momentous occasion for the club on its debut to Ireland’s major international stage race. Martin not only supported and managed the wider team over the 5 days racing, but was instrumental in the build up to the event managing sponsors and logistical arrangements for the team.
A time-trialling enthusiast, Martin also regularly authors and publishes the popular ‘Merchants of Speed’ race reports.
