With 10 events completed we’re now well and truly at the pointy end of the 2022 Banbridge CC Club Race Competition League. There are 4 more opportunities to improve league standings and score points, but anyone with views of League victory will have strong opposition from current leader Aaron Parks.
Aaron’s had another fantastic season and has been incredibly consistent in his Club League performances. Having taken part in 8 out of the 9 counting events and scoring 216 points, he holds a 32 point advantage over Richard McBride who sits in 2nd position.
The fight for the final League podium spot is a tight fought one. Brian Hannon currently holds 3rd spot with 163 points, but has Marty Fitzpatrick biting at his heels only 3 points adrift. League newcomer John Ervine is also within touching distance of the top 3 with 155 points.
Leading lady, Julie Lilley, currently has 110 points which gives her a 30 point lead over defending Ladies BAR winner in 2021, Ruth McKee.
As in previous years, competitors have the comfort of being able to drop their worst 3 scoring events, with 11 of the 14 counting races being totalled to give a final League score. This allows competitors to miss a few league races during the season for illness, holidays and other family commitments. It also means, mathematically at least, it still very much all to play for!
